։ Build your confidence. For me, when I have done my task before the  due date, I got more confidence in study.

How to manage my time better

              ։ Recording

Keep track of the time in your day planner as the day progresses. Write down everything that you do. Carry it out from you waking up until you go back to sleep.

              ։ Analyze

At the end of the day go trough the schedule and highlight any chunks of time that you don't feel where used productively. Identify your 5 biggest time wasters in a day.

              ։ Change

                i. Prioritize- to do list

ii. Declutter- won't waste time digging around piles of stuff to find that one piece of paper that you really need

iii. Shedule- set aside blocks of your time for individual activities. Set  stop points for each activity

Week 5 - Memory, Learning & Improving Concentration

                 What is memory?

Human memory involves the ability to store and restore information that we have learned or experienced. When we learn and remember we will encode, store and retrieve the information like a computer software. Firstly, encoding is processing incoming information so it can be placed into the memory. Secondly, storage where's we maintaining the information in memory for a period of time. Lastly, retrieval which is we accessing and make recall the stored information from emory so that we can use it.

There's 6 memory strategies;

1- Focus your atttention on what you're doing
2- Avoid cramming, involves studying all the materials at one time.
Students who study regularly remember the material far better than those who studying in one marathon session
3- Structuring and organizing the materials you're studying. We can try this out with make an highlight of your notes and textbook readings to  related concepts.
4- Visualize concept. Looking at the photograps, charts and other graphics in your book to understand the concepts. If you don't have this visual cues, try to creat your own based on what you learned.
5- When you find unfamiliar words or material while study, take time to relate it with your information that you already know. At the same time we recalled the recently learned information.
6- Read out loud

How to increase your concentration during studies?

1Create a good study environment. Make a tidy study space and proper to reducing distraction. This can helps us maintain our concentration.
2-  Make a study plan because when you have too many things to study, you will lost concentration what to study. Schedule your study with specific subject and time.
3-  Avoid distracting things like texting, instagram, twitter and etc that come from our mobile phone. I prefer to make silent mode or just turn off the phone to stay concentrate on studies.
4-  Regular rest is very advatageous because your brain can replenish with fresh oxygen so you can refocus on topics and attack concepts with new energy.

As a student we have to know how to study well and it's important to practice the strategies way of learning. Here is the learning pyramid that show us percentage what we get in learning with the certain way.

Week 6 - Taking Lecture Notes

Taking good notes in class is an important step to get successful academic in college. Actively taking notes during class can help me to focus and  make me understand the main concepts. In several classes, we may be asked to watch an instructional video before any discussion and we can take notes while watch it. Note-making helps you concentrate on what you are watching, hearing and reading. It make us understand new information and new ideas easier. Noting things down in your own words helps to place them in your long-term memory.

There’s a lot going on during class, so we may not be able to catch up and write down every main concept perfectly, and that’s okay. The good of note-taking is we can make revision to our notes after class to check for clarity and fill in any missing pieces. In the same time we memorize back what in mind and help us better organize our thoughts.Furthermore when we taking notes, it keeps us awake and forces us to pay attention and focus in class.

I wonder how should I takes lecture notes. Here's are some tips

❤Before class, identify unfamiliar terms, concept.
❤No need to write down everything the lecture says.
❤Pay Attention.
❤Underline, Highlight the important words.
❤Use Shortform to catch up what lecture teach .
❤Put distractions away.
❤Be Comfortable with the surrounding.
❤Ask questions when confused.
❤After class, review the notes to decreasing forgetting,
summarize, outline and mapping
❤Share and compare notes with classmates.

Mostly of the students do not know how to identify the important information. Because they cannot determine what is important, they attempt to write everything the lecture says. To avoid this problem, the most important thing you can do is to skimming before class (read quickly to get the idea). We can try this out with read the title or read introduction and notice any picture/chart. This will enable you to get the general overview of main ideas, and important concepts prior to the lecture. During the lecture, you will then be able to listen with understanding and determine what is relevant and irrelevant to take serious for. If you know that the information is already in your book, you can listen to the lecture without write it down.

                    What is Plagiarism ??

Plagiarism is presenting someone else's work or ideas as your own, with or without their permission, by including it in your work without full acknowledgment. This usually happens when students do not understand what the lecturer is teaching.

How to prevent it ?

Do paraphrasing with the techniques as follow;

1- use synonym , find word with similar meaning.

2- convert active to passive (was written-wrote)

3- use opposites (until march 2020-beginning march 2020)

4- change the structure

5- categories (cook, clean, and vocum - to do house chores)

6- change parts of speech (she is a beautiful dancer - she dances beautifully)

Calculating Grade Point Avarage

At the final exam results and assessments of every semester, students will get a Grade Point Average (GPA) and a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) which as a student’s academic achievement.

The calculated average of the grades a student earns in each semester following a 0 to 4.0 scale is called as a Grade Point Average (GPA)
