Taking good notes in class is an important step to get successful academic in college. Actively taking notes during class can help me to focus and make me understand the main concepts. In several classes, we may be asked to watch an instructional video before any discussion and we can take notes while watch it. Note-making helps you concentrate on what you are watching, hearing and reading. It make us understand new information and new ideas easier. Noting things down in your own words helps to place them in your long-term memory.
There’s a lot going on during class, so we may not be able to catch up and write down every main concept perfectly, and that’s okay. The good of note-taking is we can make revision to our notes after class to check for clarity and fill in any missing pieces. In the same time we memorize back what in mind and help us better organize our thoughts.Furthermore when we taking notes, it keeps us awake and forces us to pay attention and focus in class.
I wonder how should I takes lecture notes. Here's are some tips
❤Before class, identify unfamiliar terms, concept.
❤No need to write down everything the lecture says.
❤Pay Attention.
❤Underline, Highlight the important words.
❤Use Shortform to catch up what lecture teach .
❤Put distractions away.
❤Be Comfortable with the surrounding.
❤Ask questions when confused.
❤After class, review the notes to decreasing forgetting,
summarize, outline and mapping
❤Share and compare notes with classmates.
Mostly of the students do not know how to identify the important information. Because they cannot determine what is important, they attempt to write everything the lecture says. To avoid this problem, the most important thing you can do is to skimming before class (read quickly to get the idea). We can try this out with read the title or read introduction and notice any picture/chart. This will enable you to get the general overview of main ideas, and important concepts prior to the lecture. During the lecture, you will then be able to listen with understanding and determine what is relevant and irrelevant to take serious for. If you know that the information is already in your book, you can listen to the lecture without write it down.
